'We are always looking for better ways to help users share content and connect with others across the web, just as they do in real life,' a Google spokesperson said. "The acquisition of Facebook was always the end game."
Facebook is the world's largest social network, with over 845 million monthly active users. However the recent stock release went badly [LINK] for the up-and-coming company. What started as a stock darling, ended up in the bargin-basement bin. With both Mark Zuckerburg and major banks facing multi-million dollar lawsuits Facebook was in danger of folding without outside help. That help came in the form of a midnight offer from Google owners.
Cher Chingen, spokes person for Google said, "Google Plus may have looked like a failure to the public... maybe even our employees [LINK], but it did it's job. People stopped thinking we wanted to take over Facebook -- long enough for us to take over Facebook."
Asked what their plans for Facebook were and about privacy issues, Chingen added, "Our promise to 'Not Be Evil' remains. We plan to completly overhaul Facebook. The layout will be more colorful, and that dreadful timeline feature is gone! The biggest news is privacy! I think everyone will be quite happy with our new strategy. We won't sell your information, photos or other private content. The confusing, constantly changing privacy settings will be gone. In fact, there will be no privacy. We are opening everything up to everyone. This is how Google has operated for years, and it's how we will continue to do business. If someone wants to find you, what your cat's name is, or what you told your ex-fiance' after the breakup -- all they have to do is go to www.google.com and type in your name into the search box."
Google did say there was a way to opt out of the changes. Either they can cancel their facebook account and wait 72 days for the account to be deleted by the server cleanup, or they can post the following to their profile:
FACEBOOK PROFILE CHANGE OPTOUT: I do not now, or ever authorize Facebook or future owners of Facebook (Google) to alter my profile settings. This includes, but is not llimited to photographs, notes, posts, apps, games and friend lists. I also request that the current Facebook interface undergo no further changes (ie. Sidebars, Notices, etc).
TIMELINE EXCEPTION: If Facebook or future owners of Facebook (Google) decide to remove the Timeline feature (or the sidebar) permission is granted for this change - and only this change.
Warning - any person and/or institution and/or Agent and/or Agency of any governmental structure including but not limited to the United States Federal Government also using or monitoring/using this website or any of its associated websites, you do NOT have my permission to utilize any of my profile information nor any of the content contained herein including, but not limited to my photos, and/or the comments made about my photos or any other "picture" art posted on my profile.
