Many, many years ago, when rugged men began to dig for coal deep in the earth, they were not alone.  

MARLINTON- Walt Helmick is one candidate who's election battle isn't uphill, it's all downhill.  That's not to say it will be easy, but "...that's the gravity of the situation," Helmick joked at a Sunday press conference.

Helmick is a Democrat running for West Virginia's Agricultural Commission.  His 'crop' is spring water that flows from a natural spring and down the side of a mountain to his Marlinton, W.VA. 'farm'. 

For the second time in a week, Obama has evoked Executive Privilege and for the second time in history, West Virginia's statehood teetered in the balance.  This time it lost.

Almost Gone West Virginia. Statehood in Question. President Obama is said to be revisiting the issue of West Virginia's Statehood.

In a meeting last week, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder announced sweeping new federal gun regulation going into effect which restricts the use and ownership of firearms.  Holder sited the recent 'Fast and Furious' scandal as evidence for the necessity of further federal involvement in gun control.

John Raese, WVGOP hopeful in the US Senate race was busy attacking sacred cows, yesterday!  "BOOM! BOOM!" Moooooo THUMP!

Michelle Obama is no stranger to the battle with obesity. Since her husbands rise to the Presidency, Mrs. Obama has made it a point to involve herself in the decision making of every American family.

A foreign leader visiting a state is indeed a rare occurrence and doubly so for West Virginia. Perhaps a sign of brighter things to come or in acknowledgement of West Virginia's raking as the most socialist of the fifty states, for whatever the reason, we honor the coming visit from communist superstar Fidel Castro to our Capitol.

CHARLESTON, WV- Add Vice President Joe Biden's name to the ever growing list of celebrities and influential names that were not aware that West Virginia is a state. Just a few months ago, ESPN's Brad Nessler make a geographical flub about West Virginia while covering The Sugar Bowl.

Joe Biden must have not have been paying attention because he made a similar mistake while speaking at a Barrack Obama rally in Charleston, WV. The Vice President's latest gaffe came in his speech Tuesday. The Vice President said ,"I hope the good people of Charleston, Virginia can come together and realize how crucial it is to Virginia that Obama wins this election."
