Last month's unexpected announcement of FedEx pulling away from the event sent tour officials scrambling behind the scenes to secure another sponsor in time. "We needed another company who could deliver the goods like FedEx." said PGA Tour President, Dubbel Bogie. "Our new sponsor had to bring name recognition, class, and most of all ...money. Somebody jokingly suggested we call Red Solo Cup -- since Toby Keith would be singing his song at our concert this year. So I did... and they accepted!"
"This is actually perfect timing for us at Red Solo Cup," Spokesperson Tau Glazowadda beamed. "Capitolizing on our new-found name recognition, we are installing Water Towers in the shape Red Solo Cups in several communties across the country. Our first will be at Greenbrier, West Virginia, just in time for the the Red Solo Cup-Cup and Toby Keith's Concert!"
Toby Keith's "Red Solo Cup" is the second single from his 2011 album "Clancy's Tavern" and has been increasingly popular in concerts and country radio. Keith will be performing at the 2012 Greenbrier Classic with Special Guest Lionel Richie. Other acts to appear include Rod Stewart, Bon Jovi and The Fray. [LINK]
Event Planner, Tad Burd told us, "All our big name stars are set to appear on separate nights, but we're talking to agents to see if we can't get them on stage on the last night to all sing, "Red Solo Cup". We hope to include Tiger Woods and all the golfers that are willing. It should be a lot of fun!"
