You can't drive down the interstate without encountering vehicles displaying their family in sticker form on their back window.  At a glance, it's easy to know the makeup of the whole family; Dad, Mom, Sisters, Brothers, and even cats and dogs.  They now come in basic stick figure families to comical Zombies, Star Trek and an almost endless other styles. Appearently, some people still felt something was missing.

Now, Fast Signs is working with area funeral homes to offer decals that represent your deceased family members and pets.  But, not as zombies...

"Dead Fam Decals" are the brainchild of Stan Ferguson of Fast Signs.  "I just thought it was discriminatory when one person can represent their entire family in decals on a car, but the poor soul who has suffered a loss can't.  Sure, they can put Mom and Dad and little Johnny stickers on their Prious -- but what about dead Rover or Spot?  He was part of the family, too.  I know it's controversial, but at least with 'Dead Fam Decals' that family doesn't have to pretend the one they lost never existed."

"I think it's a swell idea. It's not that unusual, really," said Sol Gravely, owner of Parkersburg Perpetual Care. "Grieving families have been placing "In Memory Of" decals on their vehicles for some time.  I don't see the difference.  We've made "Dead Fam Decals" availble to our community and they are being well received.  One young man who lost his entire family in a house fire is looking forward to buying his first car just so he can memorialize his family as coffin decals."

Not everyone is thrilled with the idea. Amanda Smith, a Sunday School Teacher and mother of four wishes they would go away. "It's depressing!  I hate driving down the road and seeing coffins and dead dog stickers on the back of the car in front of me.  I can't help but start to tear up and feel sorry for their loss.  It's bizarre to see a smiling family in a Cross-Over covered in dead family member decals."

"Dead Fam Decals" are available now through your local funeral home, Fast Signs, and Dollar General Stores.  Available decals in the set are: Coffin (Christian - Cross), Coffin (Jewish - David's Star), Coffin (Muslim - Bomb) and Dead Dog.  Dead Cat will be available in nine months.
