In the new campaign ad, the former governor and freshman senator highlights his ability to save taxpayer money by showing himself getting a haircut from his favorite barber: His wife.
The West Virgina Barber and Stylist Association, located in Dunbar, West Virginia, claims the ad insults and endangers all hair professionals by suggesting paying for a haircut is a waste of money. "A penny saved is a penny earned," Manchin says.
WVBSA President Floyd Barber said, "In the ad, Manchin claims he cut waste and cut taxes, but as far as I can tell, he and his Democrat buddies are cutting coal jobs. His cutting remarks about Barbers in his recent commerical will destroy more good jobs.
"Barbers and stylists are taxpayers, single mothers, family supporters, church deacons, and upstanding members of the community. If he chooses to have his ears lowered by an unskilled person, that is his choice. But he has no right to go on statewide television to call our services wasteful."
Gayle Manchin closes the commercial by saying: "...he's cheap."
Joe Manchin has also come under fire by Republicans and Democrats for refusing to make up his mind about who he is supporting in the up coming election, Barack Hussein Obama or Mitt Romney. Manchin is in a rematch against Republican John Raese for a full six-year term.
John Raese has responded to the spot by announcing he not only gets his hair cut by a professional barber, he has his bald spot waxed weekly by a local shoeshine boy.
