Kane, whose real name is Albert Dorsey, had $1500 in cash, 3 grams of heroin, and 230 oxycodone pills in his possession at the time of his arrest.
Kane emerged from the streets of Detroit onto the Billboard charts in 2005 as he cracked the top forty with his first two singles on Thug Co Records. His first album, "Get Yo Ass Gone" achieved gold status with over 500,000 units sold.
Kane was unable to match his success with releases in 2006 and 2007 and was released from the label. He was busted for smoking crack in a Detroit bus station in 2009. After his release from prison in 2011, Kane had maintained a low profile. He had recently emerged in the Detroit rap scene and was working on a new cd.
According to reports, Kane was funding his return to the studio by selling drugs in Huntington, WV. Huntington has been a notorious home for drug dealers from Detroit looking to make money by selling heroin and prescription drugs brought down from Detroit where they are purchased cheap and sold on the streets of Huntington for high dollar amounts.
Moe Kronic, a label mate of Kane's when he was on Thug Co Records, said, "Hurricane felt that the rap community has let him down. He felt that most rappers are glorified when they get arrested but feels like for some reason the industry and fans turned his back on him after his arrest in Detroit. He has been trying real hard to get back in the scene but unfortunately he just isn't getting any younger and the game is getting tougher."
Kane was still in custody as of last night and being held on $50,000 bail. Phone calls to his agent were not being answered or returned.
