What's the big issue that has WV State Troopers so p-ssed?
Exactly.
For the uninitiated, "Trucker Bombs" are plastic containers (milk jug, water or soda bottle) that a trucker has... relieved himself in, and tossed from his moving vehicle. It keeps him on schedule without taking time for bathroom break. At the very least it is a violation of West Virginia litter laws and at worst it's a felony due to the improper disposal of Bio Hazard Material.
The issue came to a head as the weather warmed and volunteer cleaning crews donned their orange vests to clean up their adopted section of highway. One volunteer, Jimmy John, summed up their feelings. "We've had the occassional bottle before, but this year it's is a growing problem. People used to mock West Virginia for images of Outhouses on post cards, but I'd rather see Outhouses than these pee bottles, everywhere."
"Hold it! I've never done it myself," said one trucker. At which time we ended the interview.
A more honest trucker admitted, "Gee whiz, everyone is guilty at one time or another. You get behind on a run and suddenly nature calls. It's nothing you plan, but when you have to decide between making your drop off - or filling up that big mouth Mt Dew bottle, well... sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
"I always keep em in the truck until I make my next stop, but I can understand some guy chuckin' it out the window. We truckers are particular about our cabs. The last thing you want is for it to smell like an Exxon bathroom."
Officer Keeler said WV Troopers will be working in cooperation with the FBI. "Trucker bombs on the Interstate constitute a Federal Offense. We will be handing over any bottles we find for fingerprinting and DNA testing. If a trucker is discovered and found guilty there will be stiff fines and possible jail time. And as a courtesy, we have toilets in the jail cells."
