Speaking at a rally outside the West Virginia Agricultural College in Morgantown, current PeTA President, Rose Bovine said, "Joining with the Vegetable Liberation Front [LINK] was a logical next step for us, They do excellent work and our efforts definitely overlap.
"The time has come that humans cease the notion they are the top life-form on this planet and everything exists to serve them. This Fall, we will be combining our activist armies and targeting farms such as the ones here in West Virginia, where not only animals serve as slave labor and die to produce 'food', but where plants are regularly murdered in yearly 'harvests'. These acts of vegetable genocide must end, now!"
The Vegetable Liberation Front has been working to educate the public about the true plight of plants. "Vegetable cruelty is real", says the Ontario born founder, Marla Kibosh. "I am excited about joining forces with such a great bunch of carbon-based lifeforms." Marla has been fighting an uphill battle, since most people don't see plants as victims.
VLF states that nearly 700 lbs of fruits and vegetables were murdered and consumed Americans in 2011.
"Our friends, the plants definitely have feelings," Kibosh said. "Studies have been done for years [LINK] that show plants not only enjoy the company of humans, but horrifyingly feel pain when they are attacked and killed for food. We are against exploitation of living plants in any way shape or form. The exploitation of these living organisms is a horrible trend that just seems to grow every year. With PeTA's help this will be the year we save our beloved green friends!"
The two organizations will formalize the merger next month at a banquet hosted by First Lady, Michelle Obama.
The new name will be PeTAa, which stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and Agriculture.
The mission statement is also being tweaked to reflect their expanded vision, "All Humans Should Die (except us)".
