NBC Vice President Graham Anderson said ,"Television is full of reality shows for younger people. But the baby boomers are aging and they are the ones who sit down in front of the television every night and they are the ones who are spending the money right now. We wanted something retro. We wanted a show to take them back to their childhood and although it's a tried and true format that was once considered old, it is now a breath of fresh air in an age filled with reality shows. Landau Eugene Murphy has the style and charm to pull off such a show, not to mention the star power. He has truly been an over night success but has remained humble and the common man relates to him."
True to his humble nature, Landau is giving West Virginians an opportunity to appear on his show. Landau said, "I want to give back. I got a chance of a lifetime so I want to create a forum for other talented people in West Virginia to follow my path."
Murphy says West Virginia's Jesco White will tap dance on the show and The Boone County Ninja will give a karate demonstration. Murphy has offered West Virginia native The Moth Man a regular spot on the show but The Moth Man's agent has not responded to the offer. It is believed that Moth Man is out of the country on extended vacation.
National performers like Justin Beiber and Charlie Sheen will appear. Anderson said, "We are trying to get Sheen to be a regular on the show. He has a quiet style that would jell with Murphy's quiet charm. Sheen would be a funny addition but would not steal Landau's thunder." The show will be on NBC's Fall 2013 schedule.
